Dr. Larissa K.F. Temple is the Chief of the Division of Colorectal Surgery, Vice Chair of Care Transformation in the Department of Surgery and Professor of Surgery and Oncology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Temple completed General Surgery and Surgeon Scientist Program at the University of Toronto. She then moved to New York City and completed fellowships in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Colorectal Surgery at St. Luke’s Roosevelt. She was a member of the Colorectal Surgery Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for over 10 years with expertise in the management of colorectal diseases, and in particular, colorectal malignancies with expertise in minimally invasive procedures, including robotic surgery to complex multi-surgeon pelvic procedures. She was the Vice Deputy Physician in Chief for Quality and Safety at Memorial and is now the Chief Quality Officer at Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester. She is a member of the CoC and NAPRC, Board of Governor for the ACS and Vice Chair for the Research Foundation for the ASCRS.
Dr. Temple has research interests and expertise in surgical quality, patient reported outcomes and dissemination and implementation. She developed a validated tool to measure long term sequalae of rectal cancer therapy that was embedded into national trials. She has expertise in patient reported outcomes having recently completed a PCORI grant evaluating their role in the periopoerative period and is a PI on a funded grant evaluating the role of PROs for NSQIP. She has over 150 peer reviewed manuscripts and 52 invited reviews and chapters.
