Alliric I. Willis, MD, MSPH is a Professor of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He is Vice Chair of Faculty Development and Faculty Affairs, co-director of the Jefferson Thyroid and Parathyroid Center, and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs in the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Willis graduated from Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed general surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and surgical oncology fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer Center. He earned his Master of Science in Population Health from the Jefferson University College of Population Health. Dr. Willis also completed formal leadership training through the Jefferson Leadership Academy.
Dr. Willis’ clinical practice focuses on breast cancer, melanoma, thyroid & parathyroid surgery. His clinical expertise has been recognized with multiple consecutive years of Top Doctor Awards by Philadelphia Magazine and Castle Connolly. His achievements as an educator have been recognized with receipt of the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Education multiple times and selection to the SKMC Education Honor Roll.
Dr. Willis’ research and scholarship focus on outcomes, comparative effectiveness, and disparities. He completed the NIH Translational Health Disparities Course. He is co-PI of the NIH NCI R01 awarded study “African American Families Fighting Parental Cancer Together.” Dr. Willis serves as a reviewer for multiple journals and serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Medical Quality. Dr. Willis currently serves as President of the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery and is a member of multiple societies including the Society of University Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Society of Black Academic Surgeons. Dr. Willis currently serves in the SSO as Vice Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Board.
