Dr. Nicholas Klemen is a board-certified surgical oncologist in the Surgery Branch at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, Maryland. He was born and raised in Indiana and attended Indiana University for his undergraduate and medical studies. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Yale and fellowships in Surgical Oncology and Immunotherapy at the National Cancer Institute and Complex General Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is in the Physician Scientist Early Investigator Program at the NCI, where his primary clinical focus is on gastrointestinal and hepatopancreaticobiliary malignancies. His research is focused on adoptive cellular immunotherapy for patients with advanced epithelial cancers and on genetic enhancement of T cells to promote persistence and tumor killing in vivo.
