Resident Physician
University of Rochester Medical Center
I am a General Surgery resident at the University of Rochester Medical Center. I completed dedicated academic development time in the translational science laboratory of Dr. Peter Prieto, studying tumor immunobiology and mechanisms of resistance in cancer control. Our focus is on the role of diet and host characteristics in overcoming resistance to checkpoint blockade immunotherapy in melanoma. Ultimately, I plan to have an academic surgical career with a primary goal of becoming an NIH-funded principal investigator and professor of surgery. My ambition is to study and develop peri-operative immunonutrition delivery systems such as specialized diets, intravascular lipid infusions, lipid and micronutrient-coated meshes and implants, and a variety of as-of-yet untested scaffolds designed to alter the local biology of diseased tissues and tumors. Additionally, I am currently completing a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Rochester in order to better understand the epidemiologic and anthropologic forces which contribute to our global medical burden. I aspire to translate the aforementioned technologies into cost-effective strategies for delivering high fidelity surgical nutrition and cancer care to patients around the globe and in low-resource communities.
