Dr. Marc A. Reymond, MD MBA (AACSB) is a board-certified gastrointestinal surgeon, Professor of Surgery and Managing Director of the National Center for Pleura and Peritoneum (NCPP) at the University of Tübingen in Germany. Dr. Reymond’s research is focusing on surgical oncology: minimal residual disease, tumor recurrence and peritoneal metastasis. He pioneered the use of laparoscopy in cancer, highlighted the pathogenesis of peritoneal metastasis and is the inventor of Pressurized IntraPeritoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC). He was research group leader at the Foundation for Medical Research, University of Geneva, and pioneered the field of proteomic in colorectal cancer. He also contributed to establish the regulatory framework for biobanking in Europe. Prof. Reymond has published 168 peer-reviewed original papers, invited and commissioned reviews, 5 books and about 50 chapters. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Pleura and Peritoneum” and the Secretary General of the International Society for the Study of Pleura and Peritoneum (www.isspp.org). Dr Reymond is Editor of the best-selling surgical textbook in German language and re-edited a tradition-rich German surgical atlas. He is an expert or a board member for major national and international agencies. He has been invited for 500+ national and international postgraduate courses and conferences worldwide, including named lectures in leading institutions. He was a visiting professor at Mayo Clinic, City of Hope, UC Irvine, etc. Prof. Reymond is the founder of two biotech companies, of a non-profit biobank and was awarded with six innovation prizes. He is inventor or co-inventor of 40+ patents and patent applications.
