Surgery Resident
UT Houston General Surgery Residency
I am a General Surgery Resident at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston. I am currently in my post-graduate year 3 (PGY3) and I am conducting a research year at MD Anderson with the Department of Surgical Oncology. My interests include surgical oncology and trauma and critical care. I previously served as an enlisted solider and an officer in the United States Army, with one deployment to Afghanistan from 2012-2013, and I will return to active duty as an Army surgeon after completion of my residency. I chose to complete a research year at MD Anderson to further explore my interest in the field of surgical oncology and to learn techniques and methods necessary to conduct prospective and retrospective research in the future. I have focused my research activities on hepatobiliary surgical oncology and have multiple projects currently submitted for presentation at national meetings as well as several manuscripts under review. I plan to continue my involvement in academic medicine after residency with the goal of becoming a prolific military surgeon scientist.
