Gerardo Vitiello is a Complex General Surgical Oncology fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences and playing NCAA Division I baseball for Cornell University, he completed his medical education at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. After medical school, he completed his general surgery residency at NYU Langone Health. During this time, he also pursued a two-year research fellowship in immunology and metabolism under the tutelage of Dr. Ronald DeMatteo at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a surgical oncologist, Gerardo Vitiello is interested in treating diseases of the liver, pancreas, bile ducts, and stomach. His research is focused on integrating nutrition and metabolism into cancer immunology and immunotherapy.
