Dr Yakoub graduated medical school at University of Cairo, Egypt. He obtained a PhD at Imperial College London, UK; investigating metabolomic profiling of esophageal cancer. He completed his general surgery residency in NYC, then complex general surgical oncology fellowship at University of Miami- Miller school of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital. He stayed at University of Miami on faculty as an Assistant Professor of surgery with research projects investigating metabolomoic reprograming of pancreatic cancer cells to improve chemoresponsiveness; in addition to various work on clinical outcomes research. He then joined University of Tenessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN then Mayo Clinic Health System as an Associate Professor of surgery. He is a panel member of the NCCN for Esophageal and Gastric Cancer Committees. His Clinical interests include Upper GI and HPB surgery with interest in evaluation and development of minimally invasive and robotic techniques to manage these tumors.
