Complex General Surgery Oncology Fellow
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Canada
I am a first year complex general surgery oncology fellow at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. I completed my general surgery residency at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, and I am board certifed in general surgery by both the American Board of Surgery and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. I completed a BSc Honors in biochemistry, then an MD/PhD at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), and during residency, completed an MPH in Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Boston, MA). My research interests include the role of tumor-promoting inflammation in the tumor microenvironment as a promoter of cancer therapy resistance. This work during my PhD was awarded the Governor General's Gold Medal. I currently have additional interests in the epidemiology of signet ring cell and mucinous adenocarcinomas, and I am now investigating the presentation and risk management of patients with hereditary diffuse gastric cancer syndromes.
