Clinical Research Coordinator
Department of Sarcoma, Peritoneal and Rare Tumours (SPRinT), Division of Surgery and Surgical Oncology, Singapore General Hospital, Singapore 169608, Singapore, Singapore
I am a member of a research unit in the National Cancer Centre Singapore and a prospective doctoral candidate dedicated to improving the outcomes of palliative surgical patients and their caregivers by examining health service delivery models, innovative technologies, and education. My notable research projects include being the first author of a forthcoming paper that evaluates the knowledge, attitudes, and threshold for palliative surgery among healthcare providers. In this project, I played a key role in the literature review, research design, data collection, interpretation of results, and authoring of the manuscript. The project abstract was submitted for presentation at an annual scientific meeting, as well as for a conference poster presentation.
I am responsible for creating and maintaining databases for various research projects, including the department's creation of a palliative registry. I work closely with the clinical team to recruit patients, administer health-related quality-of-life questionnaires, mine clinical data, and author case reports. Using the data from these databases, I co-authored a paper that determined the impact of a palliative multidisciplinary team on clinical and patient-reported outcomes and another piece that evaluated the trajectories and sustainability of health-related quality-of-life outcomes after palliative surgery.
I am in charge of the overall design, conduct, and management of clinical trials of innovative technologies, such as Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosolized Chemotherapy (PIPAC), evaluating its safety and feasibility, and its effect on patients' quality of life. I was the first author of its conference poster presentation.
I have also received training from Duke-NUS' Centre for Ageing Research & Education on designing and conducting semi-structured interviews and focus groups. I collaborate with qualitative experts to independently conduct qualitative studies to evaluate patients' and caregivers' perceptions and attitudes towards palliative surgery.
