Samantha Ruff, MD is currently a Complex General Surgical Oncology and Hepatopancreatobiliary fellow at The Ohio State University. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2011 and Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine in 2015. During her internship, she was honored with the Intern of the Year award. Following her R2 year, she spent two years performing research at the National Institutes of Health (PI: Dr. Jonathan M. Hernandez) where her projects focused on keeping resected tumor-containing human tissue viable outside of the body to create new pre-clinical models that encompassed the tumor, immune system, and micronenvironment. During her time at the NIH, she served as the Administrative Chief Research Fellow and was awarded the Clinical Excellence award. After returning to Northwell Health, she was awarded the Senior Resident Award for Professionalism, inducted into the AOA Honor Society, and awarded the Myron Arlen Memorial Award for Excellence in Surgical Oncology. She is excited to be continuing her education in Complex General Surgical Oncology and Hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at The Ohio State University.
