Dr. Sandra Tomlinson-Hansen was born in Los Angeles and grew up in California, Denmark, the Caribbean, and New York City. She graduated from Wellesley College with a degree in History, where she was an avid fencer and sculptor, captain of the Wellesley Fencing Team, and member of the Arts & Music Society. After college, she worked on the Lymphoma Service as a Clinical Research Assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering and developed an appreciation for oncology. This inspired her to attend medical school at Temple University School of Medicine where she participated in plastic surgery research at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She completed her General Surgery Residency at Kaweah Health in California, where she discovered a passion for surgical breast oncology and oncoplastics. She is now completing a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Brown University at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. Her research interests include oncoplastics, breast health disparities, genetics, and medical education.
