University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Hospital
Dr. Amber Collier is a third-year general surgery resident with a passion for oncology and a particular interest in pancreatic cancer. She was born and raised in a small town in Virginia and was inspired to pursue medicine after her college professor was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Dr. Collier attended George Mason University for her undergraduate degree, where she studied business management and biology. She then went on to attend medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she discovered her love for surgery during her clinical rotations.
During her residency at a large academic medical center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami Florida, Dr. Collier has been dedicated to learning as much as possible about pancreatic cancer. She has worked closely with the surgical oncology team, assisting with complex cases and honing her surgical skills. She has also spent time in the lab, researching new treatments for the disease under a T-32 post-doctoral surgical oncology fellowship.
Dr. Collier has presented her research at several national conferences and has been published in several prominent medical journals. She is particularly interested in outcomes research in pancreatic cancer.
In addition to her clinical and research work, Dr. Collier is also committed to educating others about pancreatic cancer. She has volunteered with several patient advocacy groups and has organized educational events for the public and healthcare professionals.
After completing her residency, Dr. Collier plans to pursue a fellowship in surgical oncology with a focus on pancreatic cancer. She hopes to continue her research and contribute to the development of new treatments for this devastating disease.
