Target Audience

This activity is intended for all surgeons and other healthcare professionals who are involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Overall Education Objectives

  • Describe disparities in surgical oncology care and quality improvement opportunities
  • Evaluate cases, including diagnosis, treatment and outcomes in breast, colorectal/gastrointestinal, endocrine, hepato-pancreato-biliary, melanoma, sarcoma and peritoneal surface malignancies
  • Explain strategies to improve the quality and value of care for surgical oncology patients  
  • Identify the impact of neoadjuvant systemic therapy and radiation on surgical management of solid tumor.
  • Incorporate new treatment strategies for surgical oncology, including management and early detection of metastatic disease

The Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation

The Society of Surgical Oncology designates this live activity for a maximum of 17.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The SSO has approved this activity for up to 5 self-assessment credits which meet the requirement of the self-assessment component of the American Board of Surgery (ABS) Continuous Certification Program.
