Nils Chaillet, PhD, is a Full Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Laval, Quebec, Canada. He is a medical anthropologist with an expertise in the field of Epidemiology, Reproductive health and Knowledge translation.
He completed his doctorate in biologic anthropology in 2003 at the Faculty of medicine, University of Aix-Marseille II, France; and his post doctorate studies in 2008, in medical anthropology, epidemiology and quality of care at the University of Montreal, Canada. His research interests focus on continuous improvement in the quality of care in perinatology, including obstetrical interventions, cesarean delivery rates and vaginal birth after cesarean. He has been the principal investigator of the QUARISMA cluster randomized trial aiming at reducing cesarean delivery among more than 280,000 individuals in Quebec, and the PRISMA cluster randomized trial aiming at reducing major perinatal morbidity among more than 21,000 individuals with a prior cesarean delivery in Quebec. He has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed articles, including the QUARISMA trial, which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
