Dr. Anita Moon-Grady, director of the Fetal Cardiovascular Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, uses her training in pediatric cardiology and neonatal/perinatal medicine to raise awareness and increase detection of fetal heart problems. Working in concert with the UCSF Fetal Treatment Center she coordinates care for pregnancies affected by fetal heart disease or dysfunction, whether intervention is necessary before, during or immediately after birth. Her research focuses on non-invasive imaging modalities for investigation of normal and abnormal cardiac function in patients with congenital heart disease and fetuses with congenital heart disease and cardiac compromise, as well as fetuses with cardiac dysfunction due to non-cardiac causes.
Dr. Moon-Grady earned a medical degree from Stanford University, where she also earned a Dean’s Award for research in human genetics. At the UC Davis she completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatal/perinatal medicine. Her fellowship in pediatric cardiology was completed at UCSF. She is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the American Medical Association. She has been elected fellow of the American College of Cardiology, fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography, and fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and served on the Board for the Pediatric Council of the American Society of Echocardiography. She is also a founding member of the steering committee for the International Fetal Cardiac Intervention Registry and the UCSF steering committee representative to the North American Fetal Therapy Network (NAFTNet). She is the founding Vice-President and a Board member of the non-profit Fetal Heart Society, an Executive Board Member for NAFTNet, and a Board Member and Chair of the Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Committee for the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
