Associate Professor
Wake Forest School of Medicine
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States
My name is Joshua Nitsche, MD, PhD, and I am an Associate Professor in the Department of OB/GYN at Wake Forest School of Medicine. I attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ and completed my OB/GYN residency and MFM fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After graduation from fellowship, I joined the OB/GYN Department at Wake Forest School of Medicine and remain there today.
I currently serve as Medical Director of the Birth Center at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and cooridnate OB emergency simulations which involve medical students, residents, fellows, and attending physicians. I am particularly interested in procedural training with a focus on ultrasound-guided invasive procedures. I am well versed in the discipline of medical education and have led several stuides investigating novel and more efficient training methods for vaginal deliveries, labor cervical exams, and ultrasound guided invasive procedures. Furthermore, I have mentored several medical students and residents, many of whom have appeared as authors on these publications.
I have been accepted as a member of the SMFM Fellowship Affairs Committee and will start my term on that committee in 2023. As fellowship training has always been a passion of mine, having served as both an Interm Fellowship Program Director and Associate Program Director at Wake Forest, I look forward to being involved in discussions of fellowship training at a national level.
