Lisa Nathan, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Medical Director of Labor and Delivery and Inpatient Obstetrics at Weiler Hospital, Montefiore Medical Center. While at Einstein/Montefiore, she founded the Global Women's Health Program for the Department with grant support from the US Fulbright African Regional Research Program. Dr Nathan recently founded the OBGYN Departmental Health Equity Task Force.
In addition to her clinical and administrative duties at Montefiore, Dr Nathan is also active within ACOG, where she is a member of the Safe Motherhood Initiative Steering Committee. She was the Chair of the Maternal Sepsis Bundle workgroup and is a current member of the Health Equity Subcommittee. She also serves as a consultant to the New York City Department of Health, where she serves as the senior maternal mortality case abstractor for the Maternal Mortality Review Committee. In this role, she reviews events leading to maternal mortality for cases occurring in New York City. These reviews form the basis for the development of recommendations for city and state level initiatives to combat the root causes of the high maternal mortality rates in New York City.
