This luncheon round table is designed to provide MFMs with practical tools for pain management strategies for postpartum individuals with opioid and other substance use disorders. We will review evidence-informed approaches to pain management including continuing medications for opioid use disorder, maximizing non-opioid pain management techniques including continuous postpartum epidural, low dose ketamine infusions, adjunctive
medications and the use of opioids. We will also discuss the challenging situation of pain control for laboring individuals who present to Labor and Delivery with active substance use. The session will feature a few challenging “real life” case scenarios and the presenters will share their approaches. Participants will be invited to share their experiences with these challenging situations and offer other approaches to each other.
