This course is designed to offer a concise yet comprehensive review of embolic selection and techniques throughout the body. The goal is to address the common IR conundrum "what embolic(s) should I, or should I NOT use for this case, and how should I approach it?" The session will include a review of current embolics, followed by discussions of head and neck embolizations, pulmonary interventions, embolization scenarios in abdomen/pelvis trauma (focusing on scenarios for liver, spleen, and kidney), and GI bleeds.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to name all major categories of embolization materials currently available, list specific embolic options for each category, and understand the benefits and risks associated with each option.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe, for the head, chest, abdomen and pelvis, the key situations when embolization is necessary.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe, for each of the situations listed above, what embolic(s) and technique(s) is most appropriate, as well as what embolic(s) and actions to avoid.
