Interventional radiology (IR) has a growing role in managing patients with malignant/benign strictures and bile leaks. IR was historically limited to decompressing the biliary system using drains and stents. Choledochoscopy has increased the role of IR in patients with “chronic biliary drains” to minimize drain duration and improve quality of life. Cholangioscopic biopsies, lithotripsy, endobiliary ablation, laser stricturotomy, and stenting (plastic and metal) will be discussed. A 30-minute multidisciplinary discussion on case management will be the highlight.
