Interventional radiologists can address prostate cancer and symptomatic benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) using transperineal and transrectal techniques and different ablation energy sources (cryoablation, laser, microwave, and focused ultrasound). This session reviews these methods and evaluates the safety and efficacy of IR in the prostate gland as well as MRI imaging necessary to evaluate the prostate gland before and after ablation procedures. IR techniques are also discussed in the context of current urologic methods to treat both BPH and prostate cancer
