Discover how a scientific article develops from an idea to a finished product catalogued on PubMed. Members of the JVIR Editorial Board will offer short talks and open question and answer sessions, explaining the steps of manuscript preparation, submission, review, revision, and publication.

Two sessions designed for existing and emerging authors of articles submitted to JVIR will cover critical aspects of preparing a manuscript and optimizing its impact. The different types of articles and their intended roles in the dissemination of IR research will be illustrated. The Editorial Manager platform, format requirements, and Instructions for Authors will be reviewed. Specific issues, including publication ethics, reporting standards, biostatistics, graphics, and Open Access options will be explored. Once you know how the sausage is made, you can go make your own delicious sausage.

Learning Objectives:

To comprehend how to construct a scientific manuscript for high likelihood of advancement to publication.
To understand how to review a manuscript constructively to improve the clarity, rigor, and impact of an article.
To appreciate the different levels of access to published articles, including Open Access.
