This session will provide a focus on disrupting language as a tool perpetuating bias, increasing awareness of inter-personal and systematic racial inequities through the lens of race, sex, and gender. The session presentations will provide context for employing language concordance for informed consent and addressing language that is alienating and invalidating towards those who identify as minorities, and/or female.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participant will be able to contextualize and act upon language of gender and racial bias.
Upon completion, participant will understand the role and value of language concord and vital role of translator services.
Upon completion, participant will gain understand and comfort in asking patients about their preferred pronouns.
