Description of the session: This session focuses on proving the value of IR in a large integrated healthcare system. The session will be centered on asking experts in leadership, research, clinical practice development, and teaching within the nation's largest integrated healthcare system, the Veterans Affairs, for their thoughts on how IR has rapidly grown over the last decade, and factors that have led to its success. The goal is to share tips and strategies with physicians in other integrated health care systems to demonstrate the value of IR for continued success.

Learning Objectives:

Understand barriers to demonstrating the importance and value of an IR service and ways to overcome them in a hospital system using the VA as an example.
Define methods and metrics that can be used to gauge the impact of IR in an integrated health care system.
Describe the importance of organizing teams of clinicians, researchers, and educators from different centers to strengthen the voice of IR in an integrated health care system.
