The main goal of the workshop is to educate about strategies for optimizing outcomes on TIPS and DIPS , including evaluation of clinical criteria, prognosis scores, as well as specific scenarios including Portal vein thrombosis, Budd Chiari and TIPS in the transplant list. The panelist are experts with recognized skills in the topic and abilities as educators who will present some of their routine and complex cases, interacting with the assistants and discuss treatment alternatives as well as technical and clinical approaches.

Learning Objectives:

Describe the current role of TIPS&DIPS in management of portal hypertension in basic and complex cases including PVT, oncologic patients and BCS. Identify treatment complications and options including TIPS reduction for refractory encephalopathy.
Describe Complex PV recanalization using TIPS&DIPS as potential bridge to transplant in patients with portal vein thrombosis and Budd Chiari syndrome. It includes identification of different advance techniques including transmesocolic access or portocaval shunts.
Review current data for treatment of portal hypertension with comparisons between alternatives eg: TIPS vs Denver shunt in ascites , TIPS vs BRTO in variceal bleed.
