Description of the session: The integrated IR residency requires sufficient exposure for medical students to consider IR as a career pathway and to become successful applicants. While this is competitive for all students, those at smaller schools and at osteopathic schools are faced with a specific set of challenges in finding mentors, clinical experiences, and research experiences. This session from the RFS Diversity and Inclusion Committee is a practical guide for medical students to successfully break into IR.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, the participant will be able to build meaningful mentorship relationships to guide the transition from student to resident and beyond.
Upon completion, the participant will be able to secure impactful clinical experiences across a variety of practice settings and geographic locations
Upon completion, the participant will be able to engage in formative research or educational experiences across a variety of mediums and timelines.
