Unique challenges exist for the IR (of any gender) considering starting a family. This session aims to share personal experiences, data available about best practices and to provide an open forum discussion surrounding related topics. Topics will include radiation safety for the pregnant IR, current practices in call and leave policies for men and women around the time of parental leave, and challenges/supportive practices for the post-leave return to work. Panelists include IRs from private and academic practices, men and women.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to discuss best practices and/or alternatives to current practice in order to improve the experience of IRs who are growing their family.
Upon completion, participations will be able to discuss and implement best practices in radiation safety during pregnancy.
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate a greater understanding of the challenges currently present within IR for those of both genders in their childbearing years.
