A cardiologist trained in advanced cardiovascular imaging and cardiovascular epidemiology, Dr. Tsao’s research focus is to utilize the advantages of noninvasive imaging, including echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography, and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) to understand the pathophysiology of cardiac hemodynamics and remodeling, ventricular-vascular interactions, and their relation to adverse cardiovascular outcomes, including distal organ disease and heart failure. Additionally, Dr. Tsao strives to understand the pathophysiologic relations between the heart, great vessels, and neurologic disease. Collaborating with diverse, longitudinally-followed, well-characterized, large community cohorts in the U.S., she has sought to identify and understand the determinants and prognosis of subclinical and clinical coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, heart failure, and vascular stiffness.
