Mohamed El Masry, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine and an investigator at the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering. Dr. El Masry obtained his MD degree from Zagazig University, School of Medicine, Egypt, where he also completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residency and training. Dr. El Masry completed his PhD in 2019 via a conjoint program between Zagazig University, Egypt and The Ohio State University, USA on Novel Strategies in Regenerative Wound Healing.
He is a plastic surgeon-scientist specialized in developing preclinical wound healing models and studying regenerative wound healing strategies. Dr. El Masry's most recent research focuses on studying maxillofacial burn trauma and scar management via regenerative pathways and studying the management of chronic and infected burn wounds utilizing different regenerative interventional modalities. He has published in several first-tier peer-reviewed journals such as ACS NANO, Annals of Surgery, FASEB and Molecular Therapy.
