Dr. Lew Schon, M.D. is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the foot and ankle for 32 years. He is currently practicing at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore MD where he is director of Orthopaedic Innovation for the department of Orthopaedics and member of the Institute of Foot and Ankle Reconstruction. He is also at New York University Langone (NYU) where he is Clinical Prof of Orthopaedics and practices there on a part time basis. He is active in the Foot & Ankle Fellowship and Residency training programs at Mercy, NYU, University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins. Biomechanics, orthobiologics and clinical studies have resulted in over 200 peer-reviewed papers and over 100 other publications. He is a co- inventor of several devices including the WAVE calcaneal plate, the DJO Airlift brace, the Arthrex ProStop, Darco’s Toe Guard and Pneumatic Night Splint and the Zimmer TM Ankle Replacement. He is an honorary member of the German Foot and Ankle Society and the Israeli Foot and Ankle Society. He enjoys doing photography, skiing, making animations, and performing rock music with his band the Stimulators. Most importantly he and his loving wife, Erika, are the parents of 5 sons and grandparents of 2.
