Dr. Julie Hakim is a trilingual Canadian and U.S. board-certified OBGYN and Assistant Professor in OBGYN at Baylor College of Medicine and Pediatric Gynecology at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Hakim directs an all-female basic science research lab based in the Texas Medical Center. She is the co-inventor for a vaginal stent designed to help the vagina heal following surgery and radiation treatments. Dr. Hakim is the Co-founder of FemTech Focus, a non-profit dedicated to advancing technology, services, and products that improve women’s health and wellness. She is also the founder of an online gynecology platform targeting adolescents in Spanish @somosgyn. She is the recipient of multiple awards for exemplary and compassionate service in adolescent girls’ and women’s health including the John P. McGovern Foundation Champion for Women’s Health and Wellness Award and the Texas Children’s Hospital Caught You Caring Award. Her mission is to treat the patients, start the conversations, and create innovations that improve the reproductive health and well-being of girls and women across the planet.
