Dr. Atves is a Fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon practicing at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He specializes in a wide variety of foot and ankle reconstruction secondary to degenerative, posttraumatic and limb salvage pathologies. Dr. Atves performs an assortment of foot and ankle corrective surgery including tendon transfers and joint fusion surgery and is trained in a variety of specialized procedure types including arthroscopy, minimally invasive surgery, and Charcot recontructive surgery.
Dr. Atves formerly specialized in advanced Orthotics & Prosthetics including completing an esteemed O&P residency training program in Phoenix, AZ prior to pursuing his medical degree. He earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.. He went on to complete his Fellowship in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the Pennsylvania Intensive Lower Extremity Fellowship in Malvern, PA. Dr. Atves believes in the importance of continued professional development and has completed numerous courses both nationally and internationally and holds certifications for several complex foot and ankle procedures.
Dr. Atves is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, among others, and has made significant contributions to the field of foot and ankle surgery with extensive involvement as a volunteer and researcher and as Program Director of the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Foot and Ankle Research Fellowship, Faculty in the MedStar Podiatric Surgery Residency training program and at the Georgetown University School of Medicine.
