Dr. John Steinberg is a Professor and full-time faculty member in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington DC. He is Co-Director of the Center for Wound Healing at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital where his practice emphasizes multidisciplinary resident and student teaching. Dr. Steinberg is the Program Director for the MedStar Health Podiatric Surgery Residency Program and is also a faculty member for the Georgetown Diabetic Limb Salvage Research Fellowship. He is a Past President of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Steinberg is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot surgery as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. Dr. Steinberg earned his BS degree in Biology and his DPM degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1995. Upon graduation, Dr. Steinberg entered a three-year surgical residency at the Inova Fairfax Podiatric Residency Program and then completed a one-year Diabetic Foot / Limb Salvage Fellowship with the University of Texas in San Antonio. He was a member of the full-time faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio from 1999 to 2004 before returning to the Washington DC area. He has lectured extensively on diabetic limb salvage nationally and internationally and is actively involved in clinical research and publication.
