Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) is a cognitive-behavioral treatment system that teaches enhanced moral reasoning, better decision making, and more appropriate behavior. Originally developed for justice-involved populations by Gregory Little and Kenneth Robinson in the mid-1980’s, it is now a SAMSA recognized evidence-based treatment. Recently MRT has been adapted for youth. How to Escape Your Prison the youth 16-step program. We have offered this program in Carroll County High School, a school in rural northern Kentucky for a variety of students there. Youth without any discipling pending can take a group course; those who are first-time offenders are offered MRT in either a group setting or one-on-one; students facing expulsion or criminal charges work together in groups. In this session, we will discuss our experiences and successes with MRT for youth, including how we have adapted the program to be virtual.
