Madeleine Dean is a third term Congresswoman serving the 4th Congressional District of Pennsylvania – which stretches from suburban Philadelphia to rural Berks County.
Prior to coming to Congress, she completed her undergraduate studies at La Salle University in Philadelphia, and earned her law degree at Delaware Law School of Widener University. Mad, as she often refers to herself, returned home to start a three-woman law firm in her hometown of Glenside, Montgomery County. And during that time she was an active member of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers eventually serving as Executive Director.
With a growing family, Madeleine changed careers and served as a member of the English Department at LaSalle University — teaching composition, persuasive writing and rhetoric, business writing, legal writing, and ethics.
With her three boys in college, Madeleine ran for the Pennsylvania State House in 2012 and served there for 6 and a half years. And In 2018, she ran and was elected to serve in the newly drawn Pennsylvania Fourth Congressional District which includes Montgomery and Berks Counties.
During her time in Congress she has served on the House Judiciary and Financial Services Committees, was a Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women's Caucus, and was an impeachment manager in the second impeachment of President Trump.
She remains focused on decency and the common good and is passionate about ending gun violence, eliminating the stigma of substance use disorder, and ensuring a just and equitable society for all
Madeleine is a loving wife and a mother of three sons, two daughters-in-law, and a grandmother to four wonderful grandchildren.
