Monica Lee Ridgeway serves as the Organizational Development and Capacity Building Manager for the National Harm Reduction Coalition (NHRC). Monica was appointed as the 2020-2021 State Representative for HIV Advocacy that focuses solely on the priorities of the Ending the HIV Epidemic and was invited to be an AIDSWatch 2023 Scholar. In Monica’s past role, she had the opportunity to serve as the State HIV Harm Reduction Initiatives Program Coordinator for three years for the Kentucky Department for Public Health, in the Division of Epidemiology and Health Planning in the HIV/AIDS Branch. Monica serves as an Advisory Board Member on the Emory COMPASS Coordinating Center (ECCC) through the Emory Centers for Public Health Training and Technical Assistance at Rollins School of Public Health and Gilead Sciences, Inc. She is devoted in volunteering her time through the Life Development Corporation, Inc., a black-led, grassroots organization that empowers people through enhancement of education, economic and financial growth, improving physical and mental health while overcoming social injustice and inequity through community engagement and connection. When Monica does not have her hands in advocacy work, you will catch her reading a science fiction novel, traveling, singing, dancing, and serving in her local church in the music and the evangelism ministry. Monica graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the Alabama State University. Monica earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Walden University. Monica has certifications in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and Inclusive and Ethical Leadership from the University of South Florida (USF).
