Dr. Shaw earned a B.A in both Biology and Psychology from the University of Virginia and her medical doctorate from the Medical College of Virginia where she was awarded a National Health Service Corps Scholarship. She completed a combined residency for both Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at University of Miami Jackson Hospital where she was awarded by the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for excellence in clinical teaching.
She is a board certified Internal Medicine physician with 16 years of direct clinical experience and started her professional career as an Internal Medicine and Pediatrics attending at Los Barrios Unidos, a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC) in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Shaw transitioned to a career in the BOP in 2016 as a Medical Officer at USP Lewisburg’s Special Management Unit (SMU). In 2018 she was selected as the Clinical Director of FCI Sandstone and In January of 2020 she was chosen to be the Clinical Director of the Federal Medical Center at Devens where she received Special Act Awards and Supervisor of the Quarter for her leadership role in the Covid-19 Pandemic response. Dr. Shaw is currently the Chief of Health Programs at HSD, FBOP Central Office in Washington D.C.
