Prior to joining BPC, Michele Gilbert served as a health policy fellow in the House of Representatives where she provided subject matter expertise to a member of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS) Subcommittee within the House Appropriations Committee. From 2016 to 2020, Gilbert consulted for federal agencies while working at Booz Allen Hamilton. She managed several national public health projects on behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD), including a pilot program focused on expanding access to care and a suicide prevention initiative; and supported implementation of healthcare.gov during a presidential transition on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). For nearly a decade, Gilbert has conducted public health research and analyzed health data. Her published research on pediatric pain management drove changes in hospital procedures, and a major philanthropic organization adopted strategies from her 2016 report for achieving health equity in a major metropolitan area.
