Dr. Sydney Cox is a lifelong resident of southeastern Kentucky who is currently employed by Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation as the Substance Use Treatment Coordinator. A graduate of The University of Kentucky’s Doctorate of Social Work, Dr. Cox has dedicated her research and practice to highlighting the socioeconomic conditions that serve as a mechanism for sustained substance use in rural Kentucky. Dr. Cox has been practicing clinical social work for the past ten years and is dually licensed for both clinical practice and alcohol and drug counseling. Dr. Cox has received certification from the Beck Institute in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for substance use disorders, and Dr. Cox is a member of both the NASW and The Association of Science and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Cox has been a member of HEAL since 2017.
