Kamonica L. Craig, PharmD, BCPP is a licensed pharmacist healthcare professional and program manager with the Desert Pacific Healthcare Network (VISN 22) Pharmacy Consolidated Work Unit, appointed January 2015. In this role, she provides leadership, program oversight, academic detailing service (ADS) and facilitates the implementation of VISN level projects pertaining to overdose education and naloxone distribution, pain management, medication safety, suicide prevention, and substance use disorders. Her academic detailing service is a quality improvement practice that closes gaps in work areas by aligning evidenced-based literature and clinical and operational practices. This tool has been proven effective in significantly improving the quality, safety, and value to the customer and improvement of outcomes for our Veterans.
Dr. Craig is the National Co-Chair of the Clinical Logistics and Metrics Workgroup for the Psychotropic Drug Safety Initiative (PDSI) Phase 5 Stimulant Safety Measures. She is the VISN 22 Lead for PDSI and the pharmacy section of the substance use disorders (SUD) program. She is board certified in psychiatric pharmacy (BCPP); and serves as a subject matter expert nationally and across the network for various medication related data tools, performance metrics, and case consultations.
As healthcare continues to evolve and become more complex, Dr. Craig maintains American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) membership and employs extensive time and commitment to foster high quality patient care to align with the principles of a high reliability organization.
