Deputy Director of Research and Evaluation
Maine Department of Health and Human Services / Office of Behavioral Health
Augusta, Maine
Rebecca Taylor is Deputy Director of Research and Evaluation for the Office of Behavioral Health, a division of Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services. Recognizing the need for a publicly available, continuously updated “one stop shop” for data and other information related to substance use in Maine, Rebecca created the Maine Drug Data Hub (www.mainedrugdata.org) in collaboration with the University of Maine Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center in January 2021. She co-chairs the cross-departmental Opioid Data Sharing Committee with Gordon Smith, Director of Opioid Response for the State of Maine, which serves to break down information sharing silos and foster collaboration in SUD/OD response strategies across State agencies.
Prior to joining State service, Rebecca worked as the Public Health Analyst for Maine with the New England High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) team, a joint effort of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and the CDC Foundation.
Rebecca attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where she also pursued graduate work in public health and completed a yearlong NIH research fellowship. She is currently working towards a PhD in Health Services Research at Boston University School of Public Health.
