This session by the Tennessee Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, which implements the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children model, will give participants the opportunity to learn from seven coalition-driven drug endangered children response team communities, ranging from one year to more than 20 years’ experience. Coalition directors will share lessons learned from the development of their teams at the grassroots level. Coordinators will discuss the importance of cross-sector collaboration in enhancing access and reducing barriers to children and families suffering from substance abuse issues. Presenters will discuss the importance of data collection, creating awareness, and building local capacity to meet the needs of this vulnerable population. Insights and tips will be provided that will assist in advancing coalitions and their partners to a new level of expertise.

Learning Objectives:

Identify key stakeholders and partners needed to develop a local drug endangered children response team
Describe how to engage key stakeholders and partners in sharing valuable information data in a collaborative effort to reduce barriers and increase access to services for children and families
Explain how working in conjunction and not in competition with your local community partners benefits children and families suffering from substance misuse issues
