Required Supplies: No less than 1/2 yard each of two contrasting colors
OR Scraps: twenty-four 5"" squares + eight 2.5"" x 15"" + twenty 2"" x 5"" Optional Supplies: Seam Roller Personal tool set; small cutting mat, 4" x 14" or 8" x 8" ruler, and rotary cutter, shared mats, rotary cutters, and rulers will be provided but you may wish to bring your own to maximize class time. Prep Requirements: Please come with required fabric ready to cut and sew. Prewash if desired. DO NOT precut 1/2 yards if making a 2-color version. Jump start your confidence in ruler-cut improv piecing. If you have never tried improv before or you just want to brush up your skills, this workshop will walk you through the basics of how to manipulate fabric to create a simple improv block. Students will work in improv with stripes, half-square triangles, and log cabin construction. The basic improv sampler pattern can be made into a mini quilt or small project after the workshop or can be built into a larger improv piece with the techniques learned. Sewing machines provided!
