Required Supplies: 1. Five 1/4 yard fabrics for the Lone Star diamonds. Please note, FQs do NOT work as you need the entire WOF of standard 44/45" quilting cotton fabric. Jessica used a sunset color theme for the example you saw when you signed up for the class. You could consider an ombre array of fabrics, an analogous palette (colors next to each on the color wheel), or whatever you like.
2. One yard background fabric
3. Eight to twelve Wonder Clips (or similar brand)
4. Stiletto or seam ripper or other tool with a flat point for guiding fabric while sewing.
5. A very small ruler that has 1/2" lines on it. A 2" x 2" or 1" x 6" or something similar will work. (While larger, more standard size rulers are provided in class, each student will need their own small ruler with 1/2" lines on it for this class.) Optional Supplies: 1. 1/4 yard for binding (We will not get to binding in class, but if you are trying to purchase enough fabric to finish this as a mini quilt at home, you will need 1/4 yard for binding. Scraps work great too.) Prep Requirements: No cutting/prep in advance work is needed.
Diamonds are popular in many modern quilt designs. In this workshop, students will learn a technique for accurately piecing 45-degree diamond shapes using strip sets. The tips and tricks presented in the workshop will help students master sewing precise points. Once students complete their diamond blades, multiple finishing options will be provided – including a traditional lone star layout and other modern layouts. Sewing machines provided!
