By designing quilts with simple blocks that use color value to create visual movement, quilts can be visually stunning while also being easy to build. In this workshop, we will extensively discuss color, and the importance of working using color value as the main design element. Using these principles, students will design a quilt based in one block. Once your design is outlined, we'll consider different strategies for using color value as a design element, with the goal of creating visual interest and movement. Next, you'll plan your quilt construction by assigning fabric to each section of each block to create the visual effect you want. Once your quilt plan is complete, you'll start putting your blocks together. This fairly simple technique has endless possibilities to consistently produce visually stunning results. Sewing machines provided!
