Required Supplies: Fabric - a total of ten 9" squares. You will be able to cut some of the smaller shapes out of 5" squares but bringing ten 9" squares will give you more flexibility. All purpose scissors (suitable for paper and fabric), shared scissors will be available but Karen suggests scissors for students. Fabric pen/pencil 80wt thread for needle turn appliqué 50wt thread for basting Applique pins Hand sewing appliqué needles - Karen uses Sue Daley Milliners needles size 11 Print out of the Botanical Garden templates, these will be emailed to you Optional Supplies: If you prefer fabric scissors and paper scissors feel free to bring both.

In this workshop, students will learn the elements of needle turn appliqué using Karen's Botanical Garden pattern. The pattern includes an assortment of shapes, enabling students to learn the variety of needle turn appliqué skills needed to sew them. Karen will also discuss the merits of sewing by hand and the positive effects it has on our mental health.
