Required Supplies: Prepare before class: Purchase the Cool as a Cactus digital quilt pattern before class so you have access to it on your device. I will provide paper templates in class so you don’t have to worry about printing them out beforehand. Bring to class: One 8 1/2” x WOF strip of each: Fabric 1, Fabric 2, Fabric 3, Fabric 4, and Fabric 6 One 4 1/2” x WOF strip of Fabric 5 (Note: to prepare for class, press all your fabric. Cut the width-of-fabric strips according to the pattern, but do not subcut into smaller rectangles. We’ll do that in class!) Favorite sewing notions including pins (Note: The classroom will be equipped with: Shared rotary cutter and cutting mat, rulers, sewing machines, thread for piecing, and irons and ironing boards.) Are you intimidated by curves but love precision piecing? Get started on the Cool as a Cactus quilt in class, featuring pieced curves, a unique border treatment, and color palette that features transparency. Class will begin with an exercise in creating transparency effects, then we will work from paper templates to accurately cut and piece large diameter curves. Leave class with at least one block and border complete. Sewing machines provided!
