Required Supplies: Masking tape Pencil Pins Eight fat quarters (solids) in Eight different colors that create a transition from one color to another (for example from purple to red) Eight fat quarters that are in the same color going from a light value to a dark value. Notebook and pencil for taking notes Optional Supplies: We will be cutting many fabrics, so if you prefer you can bring your own rotary cutter and small mat. Shared cutting mats and rotary cutters will be provided.
We will cut strips without ruler, but if you feel uncomfortable about this, you can bring your own ruler (a good size is 2 1/2” x 18”) Shared 6"X24" rulers will be provided. Prep Requirements: Bring your fabrics already pressed
Learn to create improv quilts with slight shifts in color, resulting in a stunning luminous watercolor effect. Since color is the focus, color theory, the chromatic circle, and the three variables of color will be topics of discussion. Students will leave this workshop with the color theory knowledge and technical skills necessary to confidently design, cut, and piece improv quilts that make use of subtle transitions of color to create beautiful movement. Sewing machines provided!
