Required Supplies: Fabric - Twenty-four 5" charms to swap with the class preferably from the same 1/2yd of fabric. A further twenty-four - seventy-four 5" charms colours, depending how large you want to make your piece, in a variety of colours. Fabric pen/pencil 80wt thread for needle turn appliqué 50wt thread for basting Applique pins Hand sewing appliqué needles - Karen uses Sue Daley Milliners needles size 11 Print out of the Floral Dance template. This will be e-mailed to you! Optional Supplies: All purpose scissors (suitable for paper and fabric), shared scissors will be provided but to maximize your class time you may want to bring your own.
If you prefer fabric scissors and paper scissors feel free to bring both.
Floral Dance Acrylic Template
The pattern is versatile and can be made as small or as large as you like. Two 5" charms are needed for each 4" pieced square, so bring as much fabric above the required as you would like. In this unique workshop, the starting point will be a mixed selection of 5" charm squares. Each student will bring a single half yard of fabric already cut into 5" charms to share with the other students. Students will use those and other fabrics to look at color theory and value and to practice combining fabrics. Students will use Karen’s customizable Floral Dance needle turn appliqué pattern to put into practice what they learn about color theory.
